In November of 2023 it was announced that the City of Guelph was named one of Waterloo Area’s Top Employers (2024) by Canada’s Top 100 Employers, for the third year in a row. Just a couple of months later, we were also named one of Southwestern Ontario’s Top Employers (2024), in the first edition of the new regional category.
Canada’s Top 100 Employers evaluates organizations using the following eight criteria:
- Physical workplace
- Work atmosphere
- Health, financial, and family benefits
- Vacation and time off
- Employee communications
- Performance management
- Training and skills development, and;
- Community involvement.
The City’s maternity and parental leave and retirement planning assistance services were among the reasons for our designation as a Top Employer.
Designations such as these prove we’re a meaningful stand out in a competitive labour market, allowing us to attract and retain high-quality talent. It’s all thanks to our talented #TeamGuelph that we’re able to serve our community as effectively as we do. A team of about 2,200 employees working together for our future can and does make a difference in our City.
